Red Zone Plan
Proposal to Develop 2 tennis courts on the available land between Wiggen & Nayland streets.
Established in 1907, Sumner Tennis and Squash Club (STSC) is one of the few combined racquets clubs in Canterbury and, like Sumner itself, it has a real community vibe, which led to STSC being voted the best Tennis club in the Canterbury Region in 2021.
This development will complement all recreational activities in the village. Our Sumner community already boasts Scarborough Park, a paddling pool, a skate park, a beach with public BBQs, excellent dining establishments, and with a new cinema. The addition of two tennis courts will further enhance these publicly accessible amenities. The members of STSC are making a valuable contribution to the local community.
